Beach

Photo: Copywrited by Bluefizzure (Bermuda Beach)

Go to the beach alone today. Collect large, flat stones, and make a sort of Zen rock grouping. Use a stick to create the "Zen-like" circles around them. Meditate while sitting back and listening to the sounds of the beach.

Visit an Old Cemetary

Photo courtesy of martinmillar6 on Flickr

Visit an old cemetary in your area. Bring along a picnic lunch or snack. Read the headstones and see if any names are familiar to you. Bring a camera, sketchbook, or notebook. Whatever type of medium you feel like working in. Or bring everything. Take time to just daydream, looking up at the clouds in the sky.

Adventures by Yourself

Photo copywrited by Bluefizzure (Hawk's Nursery)

Many people recommend that you take time to do things by yourself regularly. Julia Cameron, author of "The Artist's Way" and "Vein of Gold" speaks of these as Artist Dates. A multitude of self-help books also mention doing fun things by yourself.

Why is it important for you to do this for yourself?
  • Fill your inner well of creativity

  • Get to know yourself better (after all, you are with you most of the time :)

  • Get rid of stress

  • Learn something new

  • Challenge your brain

  • Just have time to open yourself up to a higher power that might be trying to guide you

I started compiling ideas for many years, from books, to websites, and individuals.

I hope that you enjoy them, and take time to try out a few. Let me know how they go, and if you have any other ideas.

Enjoy!
